Oh Pooh!

I guess some people aren't big fans of potty humor - which I really can't understand because I feel it portrays the best of a childlike innocence where everything the body does is fascinating.  The video is my 2 year old Granddaughter Eleanor playing with her toy kitty which was a Christmas present from Grammy Tammy - all I really want when I sit on the toilet is to feel that sense of accomplishment that Eleanor has when she proclaims "Good job!".  But funny as I find the subject - having difficulties with elimination is a real bummer!

My latest experience with constipation unfortunately was just a couple weeks ago - I went out of town for 2 weeks during which I just could barely squeeze a rabbit turd out.  For those of you who don't have problems in this area - I am sure you are stunned - two weeks!  I did try eating salads and a usual remedy of cooked barley - but still no action.  And I refuse to take anything to make me go!  When I take laxatives, I feel all I am doing is prolonging my bodies journey to get back on track - so I just tough it out...so I stayed home a few days after I got back before I went to Bar Method class - (https://barmethod.com/locations/austin-downtown/) because who wants to be that girl who has to leave class to go to the bathroom?

Yep, been that girls twice now - both times I had to leave the class two times - so when we were setting goals for the 6 week challenge - this was on my mind.  I think I am more resistant about changing what I eat than I am about changing other habits.  I have slowly made progress - especially after I went to a nutritionist years ago because my stomach area kept making these really loud gurgling sounds during the multiple daily meetings I had to attend at work  - thank you Dr. Marlene Merritt (https://www.merrittwellness.com/)!

The body really is so amazing - how willing it is to heal if you just give it a chance.  So, I set my goal for the Bar Method challenge to eat more fruits and vegetables - when Dr. Merritt had me do a food log for a week it was astonishing to see in black and white that the majority of my diet was meat and bread like stuff - I had to slowly add the fruits and vegetables because she diagnosed me with a leaky gut - my stomach just couldn't digest say - an apple - hence the gurgling!

I'm just not ready to go so far as to eliminate sugar (you know that includes wine, right?) - but I am curious about Diane Sanfilippo's book "The 21-Day Sugar Detox Daily Guide" (she's coming to Bookpeople this week, http://www.bookpeople.com/event/diane-sanfilippo-21-day-sugar-detox-daily-guide).  So, I'm going to keep working to see if there are more precise things I can do as part of my goals to eat to eliminate better!

I was watching the movie "Girl Most Likely" and one of the characters said that when Elvis died he had 40 pounds of poop in his intestines - I looked it up and it was more like 30 pounds - and while diet was a factor so was his drug use - but I swear I have days that I could compete with Elvis!  Seriously though - how many times have I decided to stay home because my gut was so huge? Sadly, a lot of times - so I do want to lose the fat and tone the muscle - but most importantly I want to eat to stay regular!
